Free Easter Musical Coming Up in Franklin
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) congregations based in Franklin have been hard at work preparing to celebrate Easter by performing a musical production: Savior of the World: His Resurrection, with a cast of more than 75 actors, singers, and instrumentalists. Through music and drama, the production recounts the events following the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Savior of the World was commissioned by The Church of Jesus Christ and premiered in 2000 at the Church’s Conference Center Theater in Salt Lake City, UT. Franklin’s cast and orchestra are drawn from talented members of the local LDS community with full costuming, set, sound, and lighting.
The public is invited to attend a one-hour performance on April 7th or April 8th from 7-8 p.m. at the LDS chapel at 91 Jordan Rd., Franklin. Admission is free, but because of limited seating, requires a reservation at savioroftheworldtickets.org.
Mary Diehl, the production’s director states: “I was privileged to be in the 2006 Cast in Salt Lake City and I’m excited to bring this amazing production to Franklin for Easter 2023! Savior of the World portrays the Savior’s appearances to Mary Magdalene, Mary Mother of James, Cleopas and Disciple, Peter and the Apostles, and Thomas. As they become witnesses of Jesus’ resurrection, so does the audience come to know Him better.”
