Goblins, Ghouls & “Nice” Villains Called to Franklin Police Halloween Haunt

By Lyn MacLean
Quiver shiver and quake into your haunted attire to attend the Franklin Police Department’s annual Halloween party! The event will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 2-6 p.m. at 911 Panther Way, Franklin. (Rain date Oct.27)
This free event is organized by the Patrol Officers and Seargent Officers Associations and is a well-attended community event.
Enjoy pumpkin and face painting, and bounce houses overseen by the Franklin High School Community Service Club.  In addition, little goblin cuisine such as hot dogs, cotton candy, and popcorn will be served by the Tri-County High School Culinary Arts students. Don’t forget to bring a bag to collect an eerie amount of candy to be passed around by a few not-so-frightful friends. No black cats will be in sight but our canine friends Ben Franklin and Frankie may be disguised during your visit.
Enter into the Halls of Justice if you DARE!
Walk through the haunted booking and cell area in the Police Station. This is where you can see the prisoners and villains up close. Do not worry, heroes are lurking everywhere to help your little ravens feel safe.
Be on the lookout for QR codes around the event. Look at tents, doors, fences, and buildings. When you scan the barcode you will view tips on Halloween safety to keep your family secure.
With the support of the entire FPD staff and many volunteers, this event is a spooktacular opportunity for the youth elementary school community to be welcomed to the station.  “The event allows us to give back to the community and build relationships. The experience breaks down barriers between Patrol Officers and the younger kids. We feel it is important to have the kids view the Police as friendly and helpful and not be afraid of us. We want them to know they can look to us for guidance and help at any time.” said Paul Guarino, a Patrol Officer working for the Community Service Unit.
